If you are the parent/guardian of a child or young adult age 4 through 21 years of age who has been diagnosed with intellectual and developmental disabilities, we encourage you to contact us today to schedule a visit with Principal Mr. Roobhenn Smith. Upon arrival, your family can tour our beautiful facility, and we will answer any questions you may have as you seek to find the best educational placement for your child. We believe St. Joseph Center to be that place, should your child meet our enrollment criteria.
Enrollment is determined by St. Joseph Center administration after review of all recent evaluations and current Individual Education Plan (I.E.P.) when available. An intelligence Quotient (I.Q.) within the accepted range of mental retardation is the general starting point, though additional factors may also be considered on a case by case basis.
Special Learning tuition assistance is available for qualifying families, therefore, please do not allow finances to stand in the way should you wish to enroll your child in St. Joseph Center. You can arrange to privately discuss payment options based on your individual situation.
Daily transportation to and from St. Joseph Center during the school year must be provided by the public school district in which you reside provided St. Joseph Center is within 10 miles of that district’s outer most boundary (PA Act 372). If your school district of residence boundary is beyond 10 miles from St. Joseph Center you may still be able to arrange transportation, though this will be at the discretion of district personnel. If the latter is the case, a family must pursue this service on their own.
